Get to know the HPAC crew: Chuck Thurow
And now, ladies and gentlemen, the Executive Director of the Hyde Park Art Center, Chuck Thurow!

Chuck Thurow, HPAC’s Executive Director of nine years, has fun doing his job and makes sure that the rest of the staff do the same! A big part of his job here is finding staff members and developing new positions. He also works with the board of directors to create the vision for the Hyde Park Art Center: a vision that is not only helpful with fundraising initiatives but also helpful in engaging the community and showing the Art Center’s potential. Chuck attended Williams College as an undergraduate and studied at both the University of California at Berkeley and the University of Wisconsin at Madison to earn master’s degrees in english literature and urban planning, respectively.
Chuck first became involved with HPAC twenty-three years ago when some friends asked him to serve on the board and he has been a dedicated team member ever since. Born and raised in Montana, Chuck enjoys ethnographic art and has developed quite a collection over the years. His favorite part about working at HPAC is the staff and the feeling of uniqueness that exists at the Art Center. Chuck’s favorite artist is Bruce Nauman because of the way he thinks about art and is constantly reinventing himself and his work.
