The Hyde Park Art Center is seeking Teaching Artists and Creative Individuals to propose Creativity Workshops that will be offered to Design Professionals. These workshops will launch in the Spring of 2009, and be geared towards Graphic Designers, Architects, Industrial Designers, Interior Designers, Advertising Professionals, and Visual Artists. It’s blustery and cold out, but inside at the Art Center we’ve been keeping bodies warm and busy with Second Sundays! Teaching artists Jessi Walsh and Elke Claus kept things lively through a printmaking and a ‘Still Life in Motion’ workshop! And on top of that our amazing students were able to share their work with visitors at our Holiday Student Art Sale, which was a smashing success. Thanks to all our students for making it a fun time for everyone. Stop by next month on January 11th for our next Second Sunday.

Our Director of Education, Blake Bradford, has moved on from the Art Center and taken up the position of Director of Education at the Barnes Foundation in his native Philadelphia. We will miss Blake and all the work he has done over the years here at the Art Center, but wish him the best as he moves on to a fantastic new opportunity and a great organization. Take care, Blake and don’t forget to write!
For anyone who got a chance to swing by the Art Center this past Sunday, you may have noticed it was standing room only throughout much of the day. With Second Sunday, a Student Art Sale and an artists’ reception all going on at once, our halls were filled with a spectrum of art makers, art appreciators, and art vendors. Sort of like a visual arts circle of life.

Hope you all had a great thanksgiving and got plenty of turkey (or tofurky) in your tummies. A little post thanksgiving reminder here of the holiday here, courtesy of our Preschool Discover Art class.
