What's going on in the Stockyard?

So you’ve seen the Stockyard Institute’s name around town, but perhaps you have found yourself wondering; who are they and what do they do?

In the past few years, the Stockyard Institute and founder Jim Duignan have partnered on various projects, from graffiti workshops in the studios, to fostering conversations on art in schools through the Pedagogical Factory. Recently, Jim, along with help of Brandy Pudzis have been working with HPAC to develop classroom curriculum responding to our exhibitions in order to make concepts around contemporary art more manageable.

Additionally, a group of about 16 eager minds in art and art education met to discuss the production of a user friendly journal to celebrate the 15 year anniversary of the Stockyard Institute. We hope that this journal, potentially titled SITE, will be distributed to teachers/educators throughout the Chicagoland area. It is imagined as a free publication to provide much needed information on radical teaching practices in the arts and available alternative art spaces. For more information on the Stockyard Institute or the future of the SITE zine, please visit these links.
