About 4833 rph

In a blending of exhibitions and education, 4833 serves as a gathering place, resource archive, and program space at the new Hyde Park Art Center. This 1,600 square foot resource center embodies the Hyde Park Art Center’s vision for itself as a place that not only exhibits and teaches art, but stimulates creativity at all levels. 4833 builds on our history of collaborations with cultural institutions to facilitate creative interactions between students, artists, educators, and people from across the city.

4833: rph is named for the home of HPAC Board Member Ruth P. Horwich

4833: rph is named for the home of HPAC Board Member Ruth P. Horwich, and located just inside the main entrance pavilion of the new Hyde Park Art Center. During the 1960s and 70s, Ruth’s home provided many artists a place to see contemporary art, convene, converse, and share ideas, creating community in much the same way as 4833 will do. This multi-purpose space contains the D’Angelo Art Library, a resource archive and library for artists, educators, students, and the general public; a flexible exhibition area to showcase outstanding arts education work from around the city; and the Susan and Ralph Muller Meeting Room, a conference and lecture space with projection capabilities for groups of up to thirty people.
