Podcasts… Blogs… Wikis… Mashups… MP3s… iPods… MySpace… YouTube… Flash… Facebook. We are all witnesses to the media hype surrounding the impact of these technologies on youth culture, but we rarely have opportunities to hear the perspectives of real artists working with youth, or youth artists themselves. In this interactive workshop, panelists representing local arts organizations will present innovative digital media projects created with youth in school and community-based contexts, and critically examine the impact of new technologies on art education and youth creative production.

HPAC Board Member, Columbia College Faculty, and Photographer Dawoud Bey and Painter Judith Raphael are our special guests, discussing their practices and the ways in which ideas about the figure, the young subject, and the construction of narrative which are embodied in their respective work.
