Artist Statement

The source of my creative energy is perverse play in response to everyday life. My work revolves around a loose core of common concerns. It is philosophically (rather than stylistically or formally) unified. My only visions are peripheral. I want to wake up. I want to make the familiar strange and the random intentional. I want to be absurd, awkward and unrepentent. I’m obsessed with caprice, desire, camouflage, illusion, chance, what is obvious, what is passed over, what is thrown away.

My work takes many forms: drawing, painting, collage, photography, installation, sound. I often manipulate found images, materials, or text. I often create environments or perform actions in public spaces to unravel or complicate the connections between public and private, art and life.
