Everyone knows about Black Friday and Cyber Monday, but have you heard of Giving Tuesday?

GivingtuespicFor nearly 75 years, the Art Center has thrived because of the continued generosity and support of our community. This Giving Tuesday, we’re giving thanks for people like you who embrace our work and advocate for the success of Chicago’s art and artists. Numbering 600 strong, our donors make all our work possible—from artist residencies to teen outreach programs to exhibitions that showcase risk-taking Chicago artists.

Artist Profile: Amanda Williams on Community and Collecting

Amanda Williams Work Of ArtSparked by her participation in The Center Program, Hyde Park Art Center's artist professional development initiative, abstract painter and color authority Amanda Williams has plans to move her ongoing series, Color(ed) Theory, from the digital sphere to brick & mortar—coating a South Side home in the deep-fried hue of Harold's Chicken Red. Visit Michelle Grabner at our EXPO booth

Fall 2013 Shows JumbotronIt's that time of year again: EXPO Chicago, the International Exposition of Contemporary/Modern Art, is upon us. Michelle Grabner, guest curator of the upcoming Art Center exhibition A Study in Midwestern Appropriation , will join us in Booth 102, where we'll be showcasing work by artists in the show. Grabner also has her hands full with quite a few other projects, including a major solo exhibition of her paintings at the Museum of Contemporary Art Cleveland, and co-curating the 2014 Whitney Biennial. Between her trips to Manawa, Wisconsin; Oak Park, Illinois; and New York City, we were able to catch up with Grabner to ask a few questions about the artist/curator life balance. Stop by our EXPO booth for more! And don't forget to come to the exhibition reception on Sunday, October 6.
