Field Trip 2

Education

"On the bus, returning to school, students were saying how they wanted to be artists so they could "hang out at the museum all day" like the man in the hallway putting up his art." - Allison Beaulieu, Chicago Public School Classroom Teacher

The primary goal for field trips is to demystify ideas of art practice and exhibition. With resident artists and a diverse exhibitions schedule, field trips engage school groups with educational programming focused on art processes-both conceptual and technical. Developed by teachers, the Art Center's field trip experience includes artist talks, guided tours, and hands-on activities. Each tour is designed separately for a group's specific age level, size, and experience with the subject matter.

Hyde Park Art Center coordinates field trips free of charge. We ask for advance notice to develop the visit in order to design the best possible learning plan, and maximize the overall experience. Separate from formal field trips, we also encourage student groups to visit the our galleries and studios during business hours.
