Hyde Park Art Center offers a variety of Youth Programs for different age and skill levels. The bulk of our programs are offered as 5 or 10 week courses which meet inside one of our 7 our onsite studios. For our more dedicated teenagers, we offer an academic-year experience called the Youth Art Board, which meets weekly and develops both individual and group projects focused on art making skills and special events. Hyde Park Art Center also offers "Days-Off School" programs, which are youth-centered programs held on select Chicago Public School holidays.

We strongly encourage advance registration for our 5- or 10-week courses, as we will cancel courses if there are fewer than 5 students pre-registered by the first class meeting. Although we do not endorse missing class sessions, half session registrations (for the first or last 5 weeks of a course) are offered on a case-by-case basis at the discretion of the course's Teaching Artist and the School and Studio Manager, Jeannette Tremblay. At the end of each course, youth students can expect a stronger understanding of foundational knowledge while adding to prior skill-sets.

For Teens

For the more dedicated teen students, we offer the Youth Art Board experience. Youth Art Board students meet weekly to develop individual projects and group work for special events such as the Art Center's "Mischief Night." This program challenges students to look beyond their individual work and connect themselves to larger community and cultural developments...and it's fun! If you are a dedicated teen looking for more information about the Youth Art Board, please contact Director of Education Mike Nourse at mnourse@hydeparkart.org.
