Constellation refers to a group or configuration of ideas, feelings, and objects that are related to each other by seeking to capture unity through diversity. This assemblage of faculty work combines a diversity of styles, creative practices, approaches, attitudes, and expressions that comprise contemporary visual culture in Chicago.
Recognizing the variety of media that they engage with and bring to the Art Center, Constellation highlights the manifold skills of the Art Center’s faculty. Their work as practicing artists underscores the quality of visual arts instruction that they provide to over 2000 students of all ages each year. Constellation will showcase the depth and breadth of style and skill of our faculty and will include works in painting, drawing, ceramics, photography, metalwork, digital art, printmaking, mixed media, and more. This exhibition encourages students, colleagues, and the public to view, discuss and engage in critical dialogue regarding the exhibition with our teaching artists.
Curated by Michelle Beckett,Constellation provides a snapshot of creative practices in Chicago.
