September 23 - November 17, 2007, Gallery 2 & 3
Curated by Darrell Roberts
Curated by teaching artist Darrell Roberts, Figure, Form & Observation, on view at the Hyde Park Art Center from September 23 to November 17, 2007, will showcase work created by Art Center students over the past 5 years. Focusing on the theme of figural representation, the exhibition will present the diverse means by which this singular subject matter can be explored, from highly abstracted gestural work to realistic portraiture.
Featuring works in a range of mediums, including painting, drawing, sculpture, and printmaking, Figure, Form & Observation will further explore the malleable nature of figural representation and its relation to various mediums. While the exhibition conveys the talent of students who have studied at the Art Center, it also presents the intimate dialogue shared between teacher and student; Roberts has taught drawing and painting at the Art Center for almost seven years. Figure, Form & Observation is part of the Art Center’s continual effort to strengthen the connection between our Exhibitions and Education departments.
