An examination of feminist art movements, communities and concepts relative to the fields of art, art history, advertisement, music and literature. This is a studio course focused on discussion and demonstration of feminist methodology, which assumes that the making of art, as well as its iconography and its reception by viewers, is influenced by gender. Particular attention will be paid to feminist painting, sculpture, installation, writing and performance as sources of inspiration in the creation of original mixed-media artwork, and as a way to discuss community and political action.
