This multi-level course focuses on technical approaches to oil painting and methods of bringing together compositional elements to form a wide range of cohesive works. Students will paint from observation using still lives and models as well as venture out into abstraction by exploring the expressive use of color and individual subject matter. Through exercise and studied compositions, students will learn a rational approach to image making, adopt new techniques and develop their own personal styles. Demonstrations will include color mixing, glazing, and working with mediums. If you are so inclined, you can learn to make your stretches from scratch.
