Images of ordinary objects are some of the oldest kinds of representation yet they are sill used in contemporary (and commercial) art. Students will discuss still life throughout the ages and its changing symbolic meaning. Students are welcome to work in the medium of their choice as they work with the traditional still life and incorporate modern objects. Attention to detail and improving technique will be of concern, as well as an emphasis on concept and composition. There will be mini critiques during the course as well as discussions and general brainstorming.
