This class takes inspiration from Woman with Chrysanthemums (Degas), whereby each subject (figure and still life) plays an important role in creating a psychological study and questions how the environment surrounding the figure may further enhance your interpretations. Special emphasis will be placed on the head and upper torso, as well as spatial environment. Value, organization, color, and proportion will be studied as a basis for your expressive works in the medium of your choice (k.e. charcoal, ink, pastel, acrylic, oil). A Field Trip to the Art Institute of Chciago will be included to study and sketch masterworks.
