A book can tell a story, hold a record of ideas and images, or even be a work of art itself. In this class, we’ll explore a variety of bookbinding techniques, including pamphlet stitch, long stitch, Japanese 4-hole binding and hardcover albums. We will cover book construction basics, from the fundamentals on paper, boards, and adhesives to methods for cutting, gluing, and sewing. Plus, you’ll learn how to fill your pages with various painted paper techniques, transfer methods, and collage. You’ll leave this class with multiple finished artists’ books as well as blank ones you can use as journals, sketchbooks, or gifts!
