Registration

Summer registration begins April 25, 2008. Advance registration is strongly encouraged to secure a spot. You may call, fax, or mail your registration form to the Art Center, but your space in a class cannot be confirmed until payment is received or payment arrangements are made with the office. Register and pay in full before June 8, 2008 and receive a $10 discount (one per family) off of total tuition. Payment plans are available, but must be arranged with the Art Center upon registration. A $5 processing fee will apply. Payment plan students must pay half of the full course tuition plus $5 upon registration and the balance before mid-term. Late payments will accrue an additional $5 charge. If there are not at least five students pre-registered before the first class meets, the Art Center reserves the right to cancel the course. Half session classes are available for some courses (Summer Half Session start date: July 28). For those interested in scholarships the deadline is June 6, 2008. The Summer Term begins on June 23, 2008.

Tuition

Tuition payments must be submitted to or arranged with the Art Center upon registration. If a student attends 1-5 classes, that individual will be charged a half-tuition rate. If a student attends 6-10 classes, that individual will be charged a full-tuition rate. For Home School classes, each individual who attends the class is required to pay the listed course price.

Refunds

If the Art Center cancels a course, or changes the scheduled time of a course, thus preventing a student from attending, the Art Center will offer a full refund to the student. If a student withdraws from a course before the session begins, tuition will be refunded, less a $30 processing fee. If a student drops a course any time between the first and the fifth week of classes (except photo courses), the Art Center will retain a $30 processing fee, plus half the tuition cost. If a student withdraws from a course after the fifth week of classes, there is no tuition refund (no processing fee will be charged). Photography courses are non-refundable after the start of the session.

Not attending a class does NOT constitute an official withdrawal from a course or cancellation of tuition or fees. The Art Center reserves the right to charge such processing fees and adjusted tuition payments to the credit card numbers given the Office by the student. The Art Center also reserves the right to return tuition payments with HPAC checks, even if the student paid by credit card. Tuition refund payments will be processed and mailed to the student within two weeks of the date when the student notified the Office of a course withdrawal.

Workshops and Days Off Programming: Full tuition will be refunded if HPAC cancels a program. However, if a student wishes to cancel their registration they must do so one week in advance in order to receive a full refund. Cancellations with less than a seven day notice or no-shows are non-refundable and the full tuition will be charged.


Tuition Reduction

Assist with administrative projects in the office and receive a $5 school tuition discount for every hour worked. Call Margie at the Art Center to arrange your tuition-reduction plan for the current session. Hours worked cannot be transferred from former course sessions.

The Hyde Park Art Center has a limited number of partial scholarships available for our students. The deadline to apply for scholarships is March 14, 2008. Download a scholarship application and mail or fax it to the Art Center. [PDF]

Members and Non-Members

Early Registration
Students who register and pay for a class before the early registration deadline (see Registration section above for more information) receive $10 off the session total.

More than One Class
Students who sign up for two or more classes/camps in the same session receive a $20 discount off the second class tuition. This applies to either (a) one person taking two classes or (b) two people in the same family (siblings, parent and child, husband and wife) each taking a class or camp during the same session. Sign up for both classes/camps must take place at the same time for this discount to apply.
