Beginning studetns will learn to think in paint, color, and shape. Motivated by personal experience, imagination, and photographs, students will learn fundamentals of color mixing, exploring paint handling, and keeping brushes and colors bright. Students will look at and respond to artists such as deKooning and Rothko. Students will make designs where elements touch, overlap, or vary as well as break personal subject matter into basic shapes. Materials include tempera and acrylic paint.
