Street art emerged in response to the abundance of imagery in the urban landscape. In this mini-course students will explore the fine art applications of the street process of stenciling. Students will create their own stencils from a variety of sources and inspirations. In addition to learning the process, we will also discuss the basics of effective design, considerations for images in a specific environment, the impact of multiple images, and visual parody. The course will culminate in an installation of stencils directly on the walls of the Art Center.
