Artists Run Chicago Fund 4.0 Application Now Open!

This year, the Artists Run Chicago Fund (ARC Fund) seeks to award twenty-five $8,000 unrestricted grants to artists-run platforms in Chicago.

Artist-run platforms who apply for the ARC Fund are also eligible to apply for the Art Design Chicago Project Grant for an additional $4000 for a distinct project (for example an exhibition, installation, publication, talk, activation, performance, etc) that examines aspects of Chicago’s art and design, past and present, and/or the city’s broader history. Funded by the Terra Foundation for American Art, the awarded projects will be part of the foundation’s Art Design Chicago initiative, a citywide collaboration that highlights the city’s unique artistic heritage and creative communities. As part of the ADC initiative, Artist-run spaces will join a network of over 50 cultural organizations receiving increased national promotion in 2024 through the Terra Foundation. Fifteen $4000 project grants will be awarded through this cycle.

Grantees will be selected through a free, juried, open call. The deadline to apply is Monday, August 14, 2023.

16-month Residency for Chicago Curators

The Radicle Curator Residency is a new initiative that advances curatorial voices and expertise within the Art Center’s exhibitions and residency programs and the field-at-large. As part of the Jackman Goldwasser Residency Program, this residency supports emergent to mid-career Chicago area-based curators by providing research and professional development opportunities over a sixteen-month period to develop an exhibition for the 2025 season at the Art Center.

The deadline for the Radicle Curator Residency application has been extended until August 22.

Outside its walls, the Art Center’s outreach programs in historically underserved neighborhoods bring the visual arts to Chicago youth, their teachers, and their families.

By developing socially adept programming that finds new ways to engage diverse audiences in the work of Chicago’s artists, the Art Center makes space for transparent interaction with art and the artistic process, inspiring creative exploration and encouraging exchange between audiences and artists.
