In doing work on faces in ceramics, polymer or metal clay, I enjoy working from a live model or from photographs in order to create a vessel, in either a vase, sculpture, mugs or jewelry piece. For working from photographs, depending on the angle, I would need a side view for head and hair structure. I can incorporate elements from a person’s own creative ideas operating within the framework of my knowledge of Pre-Columbian, African, Asian and Pacific Islander history and art forms. Color themes can be worked through based on the glazes that our Hyde Park Ceramic Studio has on hand. Size can be determined based on drying times and firing height limits of our kilns. I look forward to collaboration with a collector(s) as new ideas can sprout and take wings.
