Through the process of daily observation and material experimentation I create ceramic abstract sculpture and installations by cutting, throwing, stacking, slip casting and assembling multiple forms. My goal is to create poetic statements and conversations using a visual language of line, volume and shadow. The display and reframing of multiple ceramic pieces into ordered visual systems and topographies is central in my work.
I am excited to collaborate with a patron to create an abstract ceramic sculpture or installation for their home. I am particularly interested how objects relate to each other and the architectural space they inhabit. This commission could be a series of wheel-thrown vessels with a particular interior site in mind, or an installation of ceramic forms installed on a specific wall, in a corner, on a sill or located on the floor. The project might also be an arrangement of sculptural objects that are meaningful to the patron which rests on a tabletop or shelf. The project would start with a visit to the patron’s home and develop with a series of conversations, mock-ups and the final installation of the piece.
