‘Floor Plans for Walking’ is an ongoing project that considers the ways in which built environments choreograph our movement. I print and draw imagined architectural floor plans that can only be realized through walking. The prints become scores, pointing to the live performance work, where I choreograph the performers’ steps. The inherent tension between the straight lines of architectural-order and the fluidity of bodies within, is present in the prints and performance work. The prints imagine a world in which choreography replaces architecture.
For recent exhibitions, I utilized existing floor plans to reimagine new possibilities for their architecture. The prints create new rules for how we move inside a built structure. The creation of new rules changes the very logic of the space.
