Big Picture High School Exhibition

April 28, 2007 @ 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM

Big Picture High School @ Back of the Yards offers students the chance to explore their personal interests, skills and passions through a personal learning plan that is created with their teachers, parents, and mentors from the community. We believe that students, families, and the community benefit through active and personalized learning that takes place not just in school, but in workplaces and communities. Students are involved in internships that serve as the core of their learning. This exhibition of student work is a result of the extraordinary learning opportunities that Big Picture fosters. The works represented here are not one specific project, but the result of the many ways students applied the visual communication skills they’ve developed over the course of the school year. Their artwork is the visual evidence of the critical social issues and ideas for transformation that individual students are investigating to improve their community and the world. In some cases students have also included some of the related research. The work ranges from graphic design to 3-D sculpture and machinery, documentary video, zine-making, stenciling, drawing, painting and other media. 4833 Flex Exhibition Space April 28th, 2007 Reception: 6-8pm
