Join us for a discussion with Dr. Donny George Youkhanna, former Director of the National Museum of Iraq; University of Chicago Professor of Mesopotamian Art, McGuire Gibson; and artist Michael Rakowitz. The conversation will focus on the state of the museum (and historical/archeological/cultural artifacts in general) in a war zone, how the situation in Iraq has evolved since the invasion, and historical precedents. There will be an opportunity for questions from the audience. This event is sponsored by The American Academic Research Institute in Iraq and is presented in conjunction with the Consuming War exhibition, on view through January 20.
