FREE Exhibition Reception
Saturday, August 4, 3-5 pm
The group exhibition Front and Centerunveils new works by artists who participated in the pilot cohort of The Center Program, Hyde Park Art Center’s new professional artist pathway initiative. The Center Program is a flagship initiative that fills a critical gap in arts learning. The program represents an innovative shift in the Art Center’s approach to arts education, giving artists a unique opportunity to develop a body of work and cultivate a supportive peer network, while providing access to studio space.
This distinctive, seminar-style program is uniquely designed to support artists in developing their studio and exhibition practice by giving them access to needed resources and tools, as well as rigorous critique of their work. In its first year, guest artists, critics, curators, and other arts professionals included such luminaries in the field as Susan Snodgrass, Annie Morse, Dawoud Bey, Juan Angel Chavez, Jim Duignan, and Tricia Van Eck.
Front and Center will be on view from August 4, 2012 through August 11, 2012, at the Hyde Park Art Center, 5020 South Cornell Avenue, Chicago, IL, 60615; 773.324.5520 and www.hydeparkart.org. Exhibitions are always free and open to the public.
