Join us for a jam packed Sunday, full of FREE event. First an opening reception of Close Encounters, and exhibition bringing together eight artists from across two continents to explore the common desire to maintain cultural traditions while embracing multicultural inclusiveness and (Re)Collect., an exhibition featuring the work of Hyde Park Art Center teaching artists.
Also, drop in for Second Sunday, a FREE day of art activities and performances and treat the entire family to a chance to explore their creativity at the Art Center! This month we’re joined by Japanese puppeteer Noriyuki Sawa. Nori will show us his amazing skill at creating vivid stories acted out by his company of hand made puppets. Afterward, Nori will teach a special workshop where participants can create their own shadow puppets and perform skits.
Lastly, join us for a special book release of the Artists Run Chicago Digest. The Digest, published by threewalls and The Green Lantern Press, documents Chicago artist-run ‘spaces’ active between 1999 and 2009 offering a look at the various platforms that often act as extensions to studio practice. The book is a compliment to the Artists Run Chicago exhibition which took place at the Hyde Park Art Center during the summer of 2009. Can’t make Sunday’s book release? No worries. You can purchase your copy of the Artists Run Chicago Digest through threewalls. Artists Run Chicago Book Release is part of Studio Chicago
