Film screening of Future Perfect: Time Capsules in Reagan Country (40 mins., 2015) and discussion with Ground Floor artist, Daniel Tucker. Developed during a 2014 residency at the CSUF Grand Central Art Center (Santa Ana, CA), this new video chronicles the story of 3 time capsules related to Ronald Reagan in southern California.
In conjunction with the film, Hyde Park Art Center and Never The Same (Daniel Tucker and Rebecca Zorach) are collaborating on a time capsule that will be embedded into the architectural redesign of the Art Center’s 2nd floor Guida Creative Wing during Summer 2015. The capsule will be slated to open in celebration of the Art Center’s 100th Anniversary in 2039.
Attendees to this event are invited to bring their contributions to the time capsule. Individuals are encouraged to contribute one item that addresses either something important to them today, or sends a message to the future. Contributions:
– should be no larger than 8 inches square or an 8 ½ x 11in. piece of paper
– should be non-liquid/hazardous/perishable- may include text, drawing, painting, photography, or anything conceptually related to the call and meeting the above specifications- Keep in mind, new media may not be readable in the future. Hard copies are preferred.
