The Cultural Service at the Consulate General of France in Chicago is partnering with Chicago Park District in hosting an exciting Free French film series entitled Films on the Lake.
The third French film in this free series is a partnership that includes the Hyde Park Art Center. Sunday, July 24, 2016 at Harold Washington Park located at 5200 S. Hyde Park Blvd. at 7:15 p.m. will start with a concert by Quentin Coaxum Quartet with free cheese provided by Babybel. This will be followed by a special screening of the French film The Class by Laurent Cantet which received the Palme d’ Or at the Cannes Film Festival in 2008 and was nominated for the 2009 Academy Award for best foreign film.
The Class (is free) in French with English subtitles and is the story about an idealistic young teacher confronted with the rawness of an inner-city high school in Paris.
Bring a blanket or a lawn chair and enjoy an evening of French film.
