Join us for a full day of art making, free for the whole family. We’ll have drop in art workshops back in our school and studios, as well as special performance workshops from our invited guests. All FREE to you! Art Making Workshops Include: * Egg Tempera with Suzanne Sebold Suso: Make your own Egg Tempera from pigments and actual eggs! This easy DIY paint is fun for everyone. * Collage with Kat Silverstein: Glue, Cut, Shape, and Paste. We’ve got it all here. Create to your heart’s content with this easy to do activity. * Satellite Images and More with Krystal Meisel: Visit the Thurow digital Lab at HPAC to pull from public images available on NASA’s website and manipulate/alter them in Photoshop. Afterwards, print them out and create a frame for your interpretation of the world! Featured performance workshops include: Luis Kinugawa: Workshop begins at 12:00pm (noon) Afro-Brazilian percussionist Luis Kingugawa will join us for a special workshop of sound. Frank Lloyd Wright Preservation Trust:The Frank Lloyd Wright Preservation Trust is back to share their Froebel Block and Pentomino workshop. American architect Frank Lloyd Wright credited Froebel blocks with inspiring his innovative Prairie style. The three-dimensional pentominos are a problem-solving toy as seen in Blue Balliett’s mystery novel The Wright 3. Both exercises teach creativity, dimension, and space! Observe, create, reflect, think, problem-solve and challenge your design skills. Three Pillars Fitness 1 pm Join Three Pillars for a capoeira workshop! This ancient Brazilian martial arts form uses music, rhythm and drums as a background for high-flying kicks, spins and movement. You can join in the fun, or simply watch as Three Pillars’ experts demonstrate a few moves.
