Too often in the field of Art Education, academics and practitioners are unable to connect theory to practice. Discussions of Visual Culture, Popular Culture and the Media seem out of touch with the realities that teachers in the field are dealing with on a day to day basis. This TalkShop addresses the disconnect and how teachers can make Visual Culture meaningful to their students in the classroom. Participate in a discussion on what exactly visual culture is, why it’s important that it’s being taught in schools, and hear how others have implemented it into their classrooms. TalkShops are part discussion, and part hands on workshop and provide professional development to teachers, artists, and community organizers. Call to register! CPDUs available! FREE!
