An opening at a closing: for its January exhibition, Trunk Show will release a new work by Chicago-based artist Oli Watt in conjunction with the closing of his big show at Hyde Park Art Center. Watt’s work is funny and smart, engaged with the material world of ephemera filtered through the captivating illogic of slapstick. In short, he’s a perfect match for Trunk Show’s program.
Trunk Show is a mobile exhibition space that features monthly solo shows of limited edition, commissioned artist bumper stickers. Run and driven by Raven Falquez Munsell and Jesse Malmed, Trunk Show is at once a beat-up Taurus, a way of trafficking art through subscriptions and sales from the trunk, and a sly literalization of the phrase “moving images”.
Please join us for the opening on Sunday, January 12th from 3pm-5pm at Hyde Park Art Center. Catering for this event is proudly provided by the JT Baker Chemical Company. If you want to follow Trunk Show, follow @trunkshowtogo. Trunk Show was named “The Best New Art Gallery (on a Car Bumper)” by Newcity (parentheses ours).
