MLK Day “Freedom Family” Celebration
Join Hyde Park Art Center for an afternoon celebrating the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. through a series of workshops, performances and film! Take a family photo in a photo booth with photographer Tony Smith, learn about the history of black portraits and images with resident artist Zakkiyyah Najeebah, create vision boards, buttons and prints with teaching artists, and our teens, stay for the James Baldwin documentary and performances from AJ McClennon and hear family stories with The Silver Room’s storytelling series, Grown Folks Stories. Free and open to the public. All ages.
