Join us for wine, cheese, art,and conversation with one of our current Resident Artists, Monica Herrera. The Mexico City-based artist will open her studio doors for visitors to drop in and see what she’s been up to for the past 6 weeks. Monica Herrera concentrates on public art with a focus on the construction of meaning through context and re-contextualization. During her residency, Herrera aimed to explore the extent of our consciousness towards our daily surroundings through several projects. One of the projects included creating and attaching sculptures of leaves from endangered local trees made out of glycerin soap on to the same trees that exist in Hyde Park. Like the lifespan of these trees, slowly the sculptures disintegrate and literally become “cleansed” from the landscape.
