Hosted by SHoP, Saturday School is a mini autonomous learning and making site located in the belly of John Preus’ The Beast currently on view until August 3, 2014. It’s an open invitation to share practical and not so practical, knowledge, skills, ideas, and time with a rotating series of informal teachers every Saturday from 10-12 pm.
This week’s topic: Poetry Workshop
Led by Kate Hadley Williams, this drop-in workshop is an opportunity for writers and admirers of poetry to take part in informal writing exercises.
Inspired by the history of classroom materials, obscure footnotes, abandoned cataloging systems and discarded pedagogical materials will inform this Dadaist collage experiment.
The Beast program is made possible in part by a grant from the Illinois Humanities Council, the National Endowment for the Humanities, and the Illinois General Assembly.
