Hosted by SHoP, Saturday School is a mini autonomous learning and making site located in the belly of John Preus’ Beast currently on view until August 3, 2014.
This week’s class topic: RADICAL MENDING
Taught by artist Eleanor Ray, Radical Mending is a workshop to teach and learn about mending clothing.
Bring clean clothing or domestic textiles that are in need of some attention, and be ready to share your mending know-how (or gain some). This is an art project, so please note that repairs may be artistic. A sewing machine and materials for patching etc. will be provided, but feel free to bring your own scraps.
The Beast program is made possible in part by a grant from the Illinois Humanities Council, the National Endowment for the Humanities, and the Illinois General Assembly.
