For October’s Second Sunday, Hyde Park Art Center partners with Big Draw Chicago to bring you free family artmaking activities around a drawing theme: Draw Tomorrow Today.
Draw Tomorrow Today encourages audiences not to put off until tomorrow what they can draw today, while accessing their creative impulses to imagine through drawing what their ideal tomorrow could look like. Participants will create a communal mural in the Art Center’s public conference room space, 4833rph, under the guidance of a teaching artist. The activity will enable audiences to connect more deeply with their hopes and fears for their personal futures, as well as with each other, as personal creations are joined together to create a collective vision of what is to come.
Teaching artists will lead another additional drawing-centered artmaking activities in the Art Center’s Oakman Clinton School & Studios, where participants will develop their own works of art to take home with them.
This event is held in conjunction with Big Draw Chicago.
