The festivities will transcend the walls of the HPAC and spill into the streets in an outdoor art party presented by joymore gallery. Joymore has enticed friends, old and new, to create spectacles and other distractions for a six-hour block party at the Hyde Park Art Center. Based on the extinct Thrill parties that erupted near Humboldt Park in the early part of the century, Shrill and a Half Block Party is a howl back at that past, including many familiar artists, and the loud and forceful voices of artists from Chicago and New York (where joymore relocated in 2003). Expect the unlikely and the uncanny, whether it be macramae or manure, pinatas or projections, or countless other diversions, Shrill and a Half Block Party will charm and amuse. Also, rapper and performer Lord of the Yum Yum will add further excitement to this kid-friendly afternoon.
