Join the Frank Lloyd Wright Preservation Trust and the Hyde Park Art Center for a reception and exhibition of art and design created by students in Chicago Public Schools as part of the Frank Lloyd Wright Preservation Trust’s Architecture in Education and Focus on Japan programs. Works from students at the Ruiz School on the south side of Chicago and the Agassiz School in the Lakeview neighborhood of Chicago will be showcased. The Architecture in Education program is part of the Trust’s effort to bring an awareness of architecture and design to students while giving them a hands-on experience creating a floor plan, building a structure, and planning a community. Focus on Japan offers students a unique and in-depth exploration of Wright, Japanese prints and architecture. Classrooms are loaned a collection of Japanese prints and artifacts for the duration of the program and students explore Japanese art and design, culminating in actual printmaking or architectural model-building.
Refreshments donated by Gourmet Gorilla featuring local and organic food for kids.
Exhibition runs through Thursday, July 9, 2009.
