Summer Saturday – Reception for Taking Shapes, New Projects X New Curators & Open Studios

This Summer Saturday marks the opening of Taking Shapes, an exhibition conceived, produced and installed by Evan Carter, Kara Cobb Johnson, Larissa Johnson, Quincy Joyner, Faun Manne and Connie Noyes, students in the Curatorial Practices course taught by Director of Exhibitions, Allison Peters Quinn with assistance from Lauren Leving, 2016 Curatorial Fellow.  The class is a component of the Visual Arts Certificate Program offered by the University of Chicago Graham School.Upstairs in the Guida Family Creative Wing, Jackman Goldwasser resident artists Basim Magdy and Shonna Pryor will be having open studios. Stop by and meet the artists!Splitting his time between Basel and Cairo, Magdy is currently participating in the Art Center’s eight-week international residency. Pryor, who resides in Chicago and teaches at The School of the Art Institute, will be featured in the upcoming 2017 exhibition The Presidential Library, curated by Ross Jordan. Shonna Pryor will also be hosting a Recipe Swap. Visitors are invited to bring recipes to leave one (or more) and/or take one, which will be pinned to an in-studio ‘recipe wall’. Handwritten, food-stained are welcomed and preferred! In appreciation for your participation and fellowship, food samples courtesy of The Original Soul Vegetarian restaurant will be supplied.
