Super Sunday: Exhibitions Reception & Art Making Activities

November 12, 2017 @ 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM

The Art Center celebrates the new round of exhibitions with the artists and public and hosts several free art-making activities for the family.

1-4 PM: FREE ART ACTIVITIES

Create something fun at the Art Center’s series of free, family-friendly art-making activities led by Hyde Park Art Center professional teaching artists. Join Candice Latimer to take a collection of objects from both the built environment and from nature around us, we’ll make beautiful photograms on black and white paper in the Art Center’s darkroom.

*If you have a young person in grades 6 – 8 please see the workshop listed for this same date – October 8, 2017 The workshop is called “Building for Tomorrow Today” which is in collaboration with the Chicago Architecture Biennial. The workshop will last 1.5 hours and will be offered twice (the same workshop) from 1- 2:30 p.m. and from 2:30 – 4 p.m. – this is a free workshop but we recommend prior registration.

2-3 PM: MATERIALS DECODED ARCHITECTS-IN-RESIDENCE TALK
Ryan Gann and Karl Ochmanek will give their first public presentation to discuss their process and pedagogy.

2-5 PM: OPEN STUDIOS
Visit the Jackman Goldwasser Resident Artists on the 2nd floor and hear about their process.

2:30-5 PM: Musical performances & spoken word with Sacred JazzOff the Pews

3-5 PM: EXHIBITIONS RECEPTION for:

Edward Hines National Forest by Sara Black and Raewyn Martyn
Sheri Rush: Portals of Discovery 
Bill Walker: Urban Griot
Materials Decoded

Refreshments will be served. This event is free and open to all.
