The Preservation of Poetry

“Preservation of Poetry” is an event produced as collaboration between the creators of Artistic Jeanius and Exposed for “The Mycelia Project” to be held at Hyde Park Art Center Thursday October 13, 2011 between 6-8 pm. The goal of the event is to build awareness around Emmanuel’s residency at the Hyde Park Art Center, to build awareness about the Art Center’s residency program, and to engage community involvement while providing a warm, creative, entertaining environment that sparks conversation while “Stimulating the Senses!”

This event is part of Chicago Artists Month 2011, the sixteenth annual celebration of Chicago’s vibrant visual art community presented by the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events and the Chicago Office of Tourism and Culture. The event will be composed of Poetry, Comedy, Dance, Live Music, Live Art and stimulating conversation from a collection of Chicago artists including Poet Discopoet Kari B, Amy Ali, DJ Davis, and special dance performance by Denita Inez of DID and Chicago Dance Crash.

THE MYCELIA PROJECT is an innovative and educational collaboration that seeks to unite various communities through hands-on, experiential projects that promote learning focused on food, soil, water, and energy sustainability. Our major focus is connecting K-12 students from diverse neighborhoods to support growing (through aquaponics systems and gardens) & learning (by developing teacher expertise through training and customized STEM-based curriculum units)
