“Use Book” Readings and Discussion for the Edward Hines National Forest Exhibition

November 19, 2017 @ 2:30 PM - 4:30 PM

The Edward Hines National Forest Use Book examines the histories and adaptations of the forest through a collection of writing and interviews. The book is modeled on the 1905 Use Book published to guide early park rangers and forest “users” and appropriates select chapter topics from the 1905 publication as starting points for the new texts. During this event, Sara Black, Raewyn Martyn, and other contributors to the Edward Hines National Forest Use Book exhibition publication will read extracts from their texts and discuss them in relation to the exhibition and broader conversations of human relations with forest and land use. This even is held in conjunction with the exhibition Edward Hines National Forest at Hyde Park Art Center.
