London-based Croatian-born artist Vlatka Horvat works with performance, installation, drawing, among others, and uses simple gestures such as cutting and folding, dismantling and repairing, stacking, leaning, and layering to recreate borders or reconfigure objects and bodies in space. This winter, Horvat will present work as part of citywide performance festival IN>TIME ’13 and call the Art Center’s studios home between January 21 – February 2 to work on new projects and reengage with Chicago after a decade.
Vlatka Horvat has had solo shows at The Kitchen, NY, Bergen Kunsthall, Zak | Branicka, Berlin, and annex14, Bern, among other venues, and has shown work extensively in group shows and biennials both internationally and in the United States, including the 11th Istanbul Biennial, Aichi Triennale 2010, and Greater New York 2010. In November 2012, she had a solo exhibition at the Boston University Art Gallery.
Please join us for an Open Studio on January 26 from 2-4pm at the Art Center to meet the artist and learn more about her work.
