Interested in renovating or remodeling your home, but don’t know where to begin? Hear from residential architecture specialists about choosing an architect, navigating zoning and permit regulations, and avoiding costly surprises. Additional “Working With an Architect” seminar topics include: defining what you want to achieve in your home, finding out what resources are available to you, and understanding the six steps involved in design and construction. Learn the most important questions you should ask about budgeting, project timelines, and design preference before starting a new home renovation project.
This event is sponsored by the Chicago chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA Chicago). Recognizing that most people have never worked with an architect, AIA Chicago launched this public education series in 1994. Since then, the organization has helped hundreds of Chicago-area homeowners gain a better understanding of whether a project requires an architect’s expertise, how to find the right architect, and what to expect during design and construction. Founded in 1869, AIA Chicago represents over 3,000 licensed architects, architectural interns and allied professionals in Illinois.
Cost: The “Working With an Architect” seminar is free, but advance registration is required. Registration: To register for the event, visit www.aiachicago.org or call (312) 670-7770.
