A+ Videos features selected video works from the past 4 years of Chicago Art Department classes, programs and exhibitions. These videos represent the Chicago Art Department’s unique approach to art making which combines intermedia exploration, community, and art education. The works included were produced during such Chicago Art Department classes as: Go Go Video, Live Visuals, Love It Or Leave It, Man Vs. Machine, Chicago Street Studies, and the Art of Games.
The Chicago Art Department was founded in 2002 by three Chicago-area university art professors who were interested in taking a classroom approach to “real-world” art making. The Chicago Art Department seeks to not only provide art education but explores classroom culture and education as a vehicle for producing contemporary urban art. In doing so, the Chicago Art Department classes promote intermedia experimentation, conceptual courage, openness and community in art.
