The exhibition featured works by Hyde Park Art Center members in a variety of media that included photography, works on paper, paintings, and crafts. The exhibition provided Art Center members the opportunity to exhibit their work in a gallery setting and compete for awards given by a jury.

First prize in painting went to J.M. Mesple‘s seven-panel tempra painting, Robert Hutchsion won first prize in the drawing/graphic category, and Jeff Colby won first prize in sculpture for his fetish-like object that combined found objects. First prize in craft was awarded to Eileen Wasserman‘s Kimora, a wearable art jacket of pieced-together brocade, corduroy and other materials. Eric Anderson one first prize in the photography category for his piece entitled Woman-Woman and More Woman.

The jurors for the 1989 Member’s Show included renown Chicago sculptor Virginio Ferrari and prominent gallery owner Sonia Zaks.
