Comix Chicago

Comix Chicago exhibited seven Chicago-based comic artists who have gone on to international fame. These comic artists – both emerging and established – provided narratives of unique personal adventure in familiar places in Chicago with a Midwestern sensibility. Within the context of this exhibition, the city took on a life of its own. While much of the artwork presented in the exhibition was familiar to Chicagoans as ephemeral pages in weekly newspapers and local periodicals, Comix Chicago provides a unique opportunity to contemplate these works on gallery walls. The exhibition featured the following artists  mentioned here with the comic they were best known for and included in the show: Jessica Abel (La Perdida), Ivan Brunetti (Schizo), Daniel Clowes (Eightball), David Heatley (Deadpan), Archer Prewitt (Sof’Boy), Chris Ware (Jimmy Corrigan), and Erik Wenzel (Stalker).

Comix Chicago was guest-curated by Britton Bertran.
