The Chicago School 1955-60: The Monster Roster

The Chicago School 1955-60: The Monster Roster was a historical retrospective surrounding the Chicago based group of post World War II artists popularly known as the “Monster Roster.” Known for their depiction of mythological subjects through grotesque figural depictions alongside existential themes, several members of this group emerged from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago under the mentorship of Vera Berdich. This exhibition was the second in a series of two at Hyde Park Art Center that featured works from members of the Monster Roster.
