Curated by Lia Alexopoulos, Votive Offerings was the Hyde Park Art Center’s inaugural exhibition for its 60th year, and embodied the Center’s long-standing, continuing commitment to diverse subject matter and support of Chicago’s artists. This exhibit of Chicago artists was inspired by the idea that the making of art is essentially a devotional act and that a work of art, as a fulfillment of that act, is a sacramental object. Photography, painting, sculpture, and multi-media installation art were featured in this group exhibition.
